Melbourne's weather has simplified Murray Bridge trainer John Hickmott's decision on where to run talented mare Classy Chloe.

Hickmott accepted to run Classy Chloe in races at Morphettville and Flemington but will send the mare to Melbourne to compete in Saturday's Leilani Series Final (1400m).

Hickmott says the likely firmer ground and larger stakes prompted him to tackle the interstate assignment.

"She can handle a slow track but she doesn't want it heavy and I reckon it will be heavy at Morphettville on Saturday," Hickmott said.

"One race is worth $40,000 and the other is worth $120,000 so she would be nearly as well off for running second at Flemington."

The Danerich mare has produced her best form in Melbourne on the Caulfield circuit, including a placing at Group three level, while she struggled at the unsuitable 1700m distance at her only previous visit to Flemington.

Hickmott said the five-year-old needed to bring her Caulfield form to Flemington have the best possible chance of recording her second win in Melbourne.

"She goes well at Caulfield but whether she brings that same game to Flemington, we'll find out," he said.

Darren Gauci will ride Classy Chloe and Hickmott was pleased to book the veteran rider.

"He rode a winner for me then he didn't ride for me for years," Hickmott said.

"His brother Mick used to ride for me a lot and there's a relationship with one of the owners so we're happy to put Darren on."
