Waller continues end-of-season 2YO spree

Wednesday 9 July 2014, 4:06pm

Chris Waller has revealed some fine tuning of his training methods has helped deliver a late-season surge of two-year-old winners.

Waller's winter domination of Sydney two-year-old racing continued at Canterbury on Wednesday and there promises to be another winner for the stable among the unplaced brigade behind Harrier Jet.

He said his stable had tweaked its approach to training juvenile racehorses

"We made a few changes three or four months ago with the way we worked them and while I'm not saying that's helped, it will help us next season," Waller said.

"We're getting spoken of as possibly being a two-year-old stable. We're happy with the way things are going."

Harrier Jet ($5.50) was given a charmed run from Jason Collett in the TAB Early Quaddie Handicap (1200m) before holding off the strongly fancied Darley runner Crimson God to win by a length.

The youngster became Waller's 14th individual juvenile winner for the season.

"We had a bit of an opinion of him and he just struck a wet track at his first start," Waller said.

Waller also sent out Electrifyin' and the well-bred youngster found the line from last to finish fourth behind the minor placegetter Streetfragette.

"I thought the fourth horse on debut was a pretty eye-catching run too," Waller said.
