Amizade makes early impact at Eagle Farm

Wednesday 9 April 2014, 1:45pm

Trainer Desleigh Forster returned from a holiday in Dubai in time to oversee Amizade's outstanding win at Eagle Farm on Wednesday.

Amizade, who was backed from $7 into $4.20, scored by eight lengths from $3.50 equal favourite Lady Jetsetter with another 1-1/4 lengths to Bambino Clementine ($6.50) in the Gold Brisbane Bloodstock Plate.

The filly clocked 57.27 seconds, the second fastest 1000-metre time run by a maiden two-year-old in Brisbane this season, behind boom filly She's Miss Devine who holds the class record of 57.18 seconds.

"She had a jump-out recently but improved considerably in her work after that," Forster said.

She joked that the win had covered the cost of her week-long holiday in Dubai where she took in the World Cup meeting.

Amizade is a full sister to Forster's handy three-year-old Alquero being by Monashee Mountain out of Lion Hunter mare Lion Awake.

"We got Amizade pretty cheap because we knew how smart Alquero was," Forster said.

Amizade is owned by a syndicate headed by Forster's main client Doug Forbes who has had a string of winners with her including Group performer Adebisi.

Apprentice Sam Payne earned praise for his ride on the filly and justified Forster's decision to claim 3kg rather than use senior jockey Michael Cahill.

However, Cahill got his turn in the winner's stall when he steered Ryan's Rogue ($4.20) to victory in the second race.

Trainer Les Kelly has a big opinion of Ryan's Rogue who also won in the smart time of 57.97 seconds.

"Ryan's Rogue is looking for further and we have big wraps on her," Kelly said.

Cahill also believes Ryan's Rogue has a bright future and could eventually measure up to Group company.

The eye-catching run of the race was favourite Star Drop ($3.20) who missed the start and came from last to finish second.
