Earthquake fav for Diamond and Slipper

Tuesday 14 January 2014, 6:15pm

The Peter Snowden-trained Earthquake is the favourite for the $3.5 million Golden Slipper in TAB's first markets.

The Darley filly was already the $3.50 favourite for next month's Blue Diamond Stakes at Caulfield and was posted at $5 for the Golden Slipper when the market opened on Tuesday.

Magic Millions winner Unencumbered's Slipper price firmed from $11 to $9 within an hour of the market opening.

Earthquake has had just one start for an impressive win at Randwick in November which led jockey Christian Reith to draw comparisons with her multiple Group One winning stablemate Guelph.

The Gai Waterhouse-trained Fighting Sun is the TAB's second elect at $8 with Unencumbered the only other horse quoted under double figures.

The $3.5 million Golden Slipper is at Rosehill on April 5.
