Walter hoping for better luck at Randwick

Divertire turned her Rosehill failure around with victory at her next start and trainer Guy Walter hopes stablemate Jacquinot Bay can do the same.

Walter said the leaders' bias at Rosehill in recent months played against many of his runners and Divertire was a perfect example.

The mare won at Warwick Farm on Saturday, a week after she beat two runners home at Rosehill, the same day Jacquinot Bay struggled to make an impression in his race.

Jacquinot Bay was also entered for the Warwick Farm meeting but Walter decided to give him another week and run him over 1600 metres at Randwick.

"I thought he needed another week and he will be better suited by the 1600 metres at Randwick," Walter said.

"It will be nice to see him away from Rosehill.

"There haven't been many come from behind there for some time and I don't know why.

"Divertire couldn't do it."

Jacquinot Bay made a late start to his career and hopes were high after he put together six wins from his first seven starts.

His 2013 Doncaster campaign was abandoned after he struggled in the Group Three Doncaster Prelude won by his now-retired stablemate Skyerush.

He put in an eye-catching run first-up this campaign when fifth in the Starlight Stakes on November 30 but Walter admitted his two runs since had been disappointing.

"There is nothing wrong with him and I'm just hoping he can turn things around," he said.

Zauberflote and Pillow Talk will represent the stable in the benchmark 80 for fillies and mares over 1400 metres.

Darley mare Zauberflote also failed to make enough ground at the January 4 Rosehill meeting while Pillow Talk was a close fifth, beaten less than a length, behind Our Celladoor on Randwick's Kensington track last Wednesday.
