Chad Schofield appeals Seymour suspension

Monday 13 January 2014, 1:13pm

Champion apprentice Chad Schofield has appealed his latest careless riding suspension.

The Cox Plate-winning rider was outed for 12 meetings last Thursday after being found guilty of careless riding aboard Camos in the third race at Seymour in which the pair finished fourth

Schofield has appealed both his conviction and the severity of the ban and will have his case heard by the Racing Appeals and Disciplinary Board in Melbourne on Tuesday.

The apprentice has a history of careless riding suspensions having missed more around four months of last season.

Despite the lengthy absences, Schofield still managed to win the Melbourne apprentices' title, a year after taking the Sydney apprentices' premiership.

Schofield leads this season's Melbourne apprentices' premiership and is sixth on the senior jockeys' standings.

His latest ban comes a month after he returned from back-to-back careless riding suspensions which kept him on the sidelines for three weeks.
