Dilemma for Little after mare wins again

Saturday 17 August 2013, 1:22pm

The longtime partnership of trainer Colin Little and jockey Craig Williams drew first blood at Caulfield on Saturday when Text'n Hurley prevailed in the opening race.

Little said he didn't need to give Williams any riding instructions for the race "because he had analysed it to death".

Four-year-old Text'n Hurley ($2.25 fav) raced on the pace in the 1600 metres RSL Hcp and had to fight back in the straight after being headed by eventual second placegetter Bia Diamond ($10).

She staved off that challenge to win by a short head with early leader Imoto ($8.50) third.

"I've known Colin since I was a kid and we have had a great relationship, and most importantly, a successful one," Williams said.

Little is in two-minds about whether to continue the campaign of Text'n Hurley who has now won her past three starts.

"I'm sure she is looking for 2000 metres but it is a matter of, do we stop her now for the autumn or keep on going?" Little said.

"But it's hard to ignore winning form."

Williams said he knew he had the race won with 10 strides to go.

"I thought she was going to quicken and get away from the other horses but she still ran a pretty good race," he said.
