Nash Rawiller is looking to imported stayer Fiorente as the horse most likely to parlay his latest Sydney jockeys' premiership success into a spring carnival windfall.

Fresh from winning his third Sydney riders' title, Rawiller has now set his sights on making an impact during the spring after an indifferent autumn carnival in Sydney.

"I came back and rode well over the autumn but nothing fell into place," Rawiller said.

"With things like More Joyous (getting beaten) and running second on Pierro in the Doncaster, nothing went to plan."

Last year's Melbourne Cup runner-up, Fiorente is building nicely towards a first-up return in the Memsie Stakes at Caulfield.

Because he is on a working holiday in Darwin, Rawiller missed Fiorente's pleasing barrier trial effort at Randwick on Friday.

Tim Clark was in the saddle when Fiorente dashed home late in the trial to run second to Carlton House but Rawiller and fellow Tulloch Lodge rider Tommy Berry have the inside running for the prized mount.

Berry rode Fiorente in the horse's only autumn appearance which resulted in an eye-catching second against the sprinters in All Too Hard's All Aged Stakes win.

"I'm really hopeful of creating a really good relationship with Fiorente," Rawiller said, without being able to confirm he is locked in for the spring ride.

"Like anything you know you are on a performance-based thing with a horse like him but I won't be letting a ride like that slip easily."

Trained by Gai Waterhouse, Fiorente has been tipped to campaign exclusively in Melbourne during the spring carnival, starting with the Group One Memsie Stakes on August 31.

Rawiller has five rides at Monday's Fannie Bay meeting, with the David Hayes-trained Extra Zero his most important mount in the $200,000 Darwin Cup.

Extra Zero finished down the course in his Darwin lead-up race but is on the third line of Cup betting as a $7 chance.

Rawiller snatched the Sydney jockeys' premiership from Hugh Bowman after riding 21 city winners during July.
