Warwick Farm to undergo track inspection

Monday 1 July 2013, 5:27pm

A Warwick Farm track inspection on Tuesday will focus on two areas of concern ahead of Wednesday's race meeting.

Deputy chief steward Greg Rudolph said the 1600m and 1300m starting chutes would come under most scrutiny when he inspects the track on Tuesday afternoon.

"There was plenty of surface water in the chutes this morning and they are the worst spots on the track," Rudolph said.

"We will have a look at that tomorrow and go from there."

Warwick Farm has received almost 100mm of rain during the past week and it was given the heaviest possible rating on Tuesday.

But with Monday's Rosehill meeting run in fine weather and the track figuring in a minor upgrade during the course of the nine races, officials are also confident the Warwick Farm meeting will go ahead.

"With the forecast the way it is, we should be OK," Rudolph said.

Maintenance will begin on the Rosehill track on Tuesday to have the surface in racing order for Saturday's Civic Stakes fixture.

Track manager Chris Toogood said a decision on a rail placement for the meeting would be made after the renovation.

"I was planning to put it out three metres but we could go to four metres now," he said.
