Metrop penalties for Rocks and Writer

Monday 23 September 2019, 6:07pm

Brimham Rocks has escaped a Caulfield Cup penalty for his Naturalism Stakes win but the victory has earned him an extra two kilograms for the Metropolitan Handicap.

Hush Writer, winner of Friday's Newcastle Cup, received the same penalty and the two are both on 52.5kg for the Group One Metropolitan (2400m) at Randwick on October 5.

Brimham Rocks' Chris Waller-trained stablemate Finche was not eligible for a Metropolitan penalty for his win in Saturday's Kingston Town Stakes which elevated him to Melbourne Cup favouritism.

Hakwes Racing's Rock, who gained ballot exemption to the Epsom for winning the Cameron at Newcastle, received half a kilogram and will carry 50.5kg in the Group One handicap.

Kolding is exempt from an Epsom ballot and penalty for winning Saturday's Bill Ritchie Handicap.
