Pierata comfortably wins barrier trial

Friday 23 August 2019, 9:03am

Leading Everest contender Pierata has cruised to a barrier trial win at Warwick Farm.

The Greg Hickman-trained horse was given an easy time by Tommy Berry in Friday's 1000m-heat on the course proper.

After tracking the speed, Pierata assumed control in the straight and went on to beat Fasika by 1-3/4 lengths.

Pierata, winner of the Group One All Aged Stakes, is expected to make his return in the Concorde Stakes on September 7.

Santa Ana Lane heads markets for the Everest on October 19 at $5 ahead of Osborne Bulls at $6 and Pierata and Alizee at $8.
