Adelaide's Kennewell family is looking at one more winter feature win after dour stayer Rialya's success in the Group Three Tattersall's Cup at Eagle Farm on Saturday.

Rialya ($21) scored his first win since the 2012 Adelaide Cup when he was too strong for Shenzhou Steeds ($8), winning by a long head.

The favourite Rothera ($2.70) had no luck and was two lengths back in third.

Rialya is trained by Lloyd Kennewell at Morphettville where he shares duties with his father Gary who was in charge of the team on Saturday.

"Rialya is a real stayer and we will probably leave him with local trainer David Murphy for a crack at the Queensland Cup in a fortnight," Gary Kennewell said.

In the long term, Rialya's connections are looking at the Melbourne Cup start.

Winning jockey Joe Bowditch said Rialya was a tough horse who would be suited by the 3200m of the Queensland Cup.

Jockey Eddie Wilkinson said Shenzhou Steeds had got back to last but rattled home late.

Rothera was caught deep for most of the race.

"He hit the lead in the straight but the early effort told," jockey Ric McMahon said.

The Kennewell team have enjoyed a successful back end of the Queensland winter carnival, winning the Eye Liner Stakes last week with Conservatorium, a brave sprinter who backed up to finish second in the Mercedes-Benz Mile on Saturday.
