Shamexpress draws barrier three at Ascot

Monday 17 June 2013, 12:35pm

Shamexpress has drawn barrier three in the King's Stand Stakes at Royal Ascot where he will face 18 rivals on Tuesday.

The Australian representative is at 9-1 with most betting agencies with the Mike De Kock-trained Shea Shea (barrier five) the dominant favourite at 2-1 to give South Africa its first winner at the Royal meeting.

De Kock has trained winners all over the globe but has yet to break his Ascot duck.

Shea Shea was a very impressive winner at the Dubai World Cup meeting and Ascot has been his aim ever since. He will be ridden by Christophe Soumillon.

Animal Kingdom, whose majority owner is Australia's Arrowfield Stud, is odds-on to win the opening race of the meeting, the Queen Anne Stakes.

The Dubai World Cup winner has 12 rivals and will start from barrier 13, the gate closest to the grandstand side of the course.

Australia's other representative, Sea Siren, is available at 12-1 with some European bookmakers for Saturday's Diamond Jubilee Stakes with the final field and barriers declared later in the week.
