Thunder King's First Winner!

Monday 17 June 2013, 10:21am

2YO winners are one of the first things people look for when selecting a stallion for their broodmare and who can blame them when you consider the amount of money on offer for today's early runners.

One stallion which has started his stud career on the right hoof is the largely unknown sire, Thunder King. A winner of 9 races himself; Thunder King is the sire of Turbo Teddy, a 2YO with movie star looks and speed to burn.

He broke his maiden by nearly 3 lengths at his first start against the older horses in January this year with a come from behind win over 800m. After a spell, he stepped out at Toowoomba against the older horses once again and put in a remarkable performance, claiming victory after being at least 10 lengths off them turning for home.

Turbo Teddys trainer, Steven Thomas has a huge opinion of his charge and will set him for the Sunshine Coast Gunnies next season.

His sire Thunder King comes from the same family as the champion juvenile sire More Than Ready, has the same broodmare sire as General Nediym, is by one of Queensland’s most popular sires Sequalo.

He stands for $2750 in 2013.
