Ossenhagen could be Hong Kong bound

Sunday 16 June 2013, 6:04pm

Promising three-year-old Ossenhagen may have run his last race in Australia.

The owners of the John Sadler-trained gelding have received an offer from Hong Kong for the impressive winner of his past two starts and the son of Ad Valorem is undergoing the usual veterinary examination.

Ossenhagen has had four starts and scored impressive wins at Geelong and Bendigo last month by six lengths and 4-1/2 lengths respectively.

He was scratched from a race at Moonee Valley on Saturday because of a cut to a leg.

Troy Corstens, general manager of Malua Racing, said the cut was not serious but the offer was.

"There's an offer from Hong Kong that the owners are considering," Corstens said.

"I think he would be a good horse for Hong Kong. He's a promising horse.

"He's a gelding and when offers come in you've got to give it careful consideration."

Should Ossenhagen be sold he will be the second talented three-year-old to leave the Malua operation in recent weeks.

The talented Scimitar, winner of his only two starts is also Hong Kong-bound.

He was due to run in last Saturday week's Creswick Stakes but was scratched on the eve of the Listed race after the sale was confirmed.
