Twitchy Frank lands big prize at Caulfield

Saturday 27 April 2019, 2:12pm

Tasmanian trainer Adam Trinder will let the owners celebrate the win of Twitchy Frank at Caulfield before pressing them for a decision on a potential Group One start.

A former member of the Darren Weir stable, Twitchy Frank has won two of her four starts since joining Trinder's team, adding Saturday's VOBIS Gold Distaff (1400m) to her record.

Twitchy Frank holds a nomination in next week's Group One Sangster Stakes (1200m) at Morphettville.

"I probably would have liked to have seen her a little bit sharper today to realistically go in that direction," Trinder said.

"I'll see what she does overnight and have a chat with the boys.

"I might give her a really quiet week off the pony and have a throw at the stumps as it is a Group One.

"It's either the Sangster or a spell."

Ridden by Anthony Darmanin, Twitchy Frank was sent off the $2.90 favourite before scoring a half-length win from Spanner Head ($5) with River Jewel ($5) a head away third.

Trinder said Saturday's race with it's $150,000 prize money on offer was the ideal race for Twitchy Frank.

"It's worked out as a fantastic result," he said.
