Raquel Clark rides 100th winner for season

Wednesday 20 March 2019, 6:20pm

South Australia's star apprentice Raquel Clark showed her professionalism to bring up her 100th winner for the season on Dream Kisses in the National Apprentices Series at Doomben.

Clark reached 99 winners on Sunday with a treble at Port Lincoln and her first season century was never in doubt when Dream Kisses ($2.50) went straight to the lead and never looked like being headed.

American Gent ($18) was second for Queensland's Baylee Nothdurft with Victoria's Teo Nugent third on Tziporah ($4.20).

Clark arrived in Brisbane on Tuesday night and rode trackwork on Wednesday morning.

"I had never ridden the clockwise way of going and I wanted to get a feel for it," she said.

"It is obviously a thrill to reach 100 but the idea is to keep going."

Clark, who is apprenticed to Leon Macdonald and Andrew Gluyas, began her career in Tasmania but has been in Adelaide for two years.

She will have a three-week stint in Singapore soon but hopes to win the Adelaide premiership where she is currently second.

Dream Kisses' trainer Tony Gollan , who also brought up his 100th winner for the season with the win, was very impressed with Clark.

"I asked her to lead, she said OK and she did," he said.

Gollan said Dream Kisses would probably return to Saturday racing before heading to stud later this year.

Earlier, Brad Stewart brought up his 49th winner for Gollan when Six Sigma ($1.65) won the Baylee Nothdurft Handicap (1350m).

Stewart linked with Gollan last year and they have since proved a lethal combination.
