Teodora a possible staying star for Qld

Friday 22 February 2019, 3:16pm

Few restricted class horses arrive in Brisbane with better staying credentials than Teodora.

Teodora will be having her first start for premier Brisbane trainer Tony Gollan in Saturday's Priceline Ascot Plate (2200m) at Eagle Farm after being transferred from Darren Weir in the fall-out from his recent disqualification.

Teodora won her first two starts at Victorian provincial tracks before running fourth to Pinot in the 2017 Group Three Ethereal Stakes (2000m) at Caulfield.

She was then given another test over the same distance when midfield behind Luvaluva in the Group Two Wakeful Stakes.

Teodora went to Adelaide in the winter finishing third to stablemate Pleasuring in the Group Three South Australian Classic (2500m).

Since resuming in December, Teodora has won at Caulfield and been placed at Flemington and Sandown.

Gollan is excited about getting Teodora who will add to his promising staying ranks which includes other Plate runners Perfect and Red Phantom.

"I obviously have only had her a short time but she arrived in great fettle," Gollan said.

"I want to have another good look at her but I think a big track like Eagle Farm will suit her."

Gollan believes Teodora will be an ideal horse for races such as the Toowoomba Cup if she continues her form.

Red Phantom and Perfect Witness have been racing well and were placed in the same race at Doomben over 2200m two weeks ago.

"They are both stayers on the up and again Eagle Farm should suit them," Gollan said.
