Patinack Farm has refuted claims its unreserved reduction sale is a farce, reaffirming that Nathan Tinkler's breeding and racing operation remains on the market.

The organisation came in for criticism on Wednesday when it withdrew 22 horses from a Magic Millions sale session set down for later this week.

The apparent buyback by Tinkler of several yearlings who did go through the ring on Wednesday also angered some prospective buyers and prompted speculation he might not be making a complete exit from racing.

In April, Patinack Farm was put up for sale on a walk in-walk out basis but no deal has been struck.

According to Patinack, the horses it has withdrawn from Friday's sale session are on the market privately.

It says the company is genuine in offering its entire operation for sale and the dispersal of 400 horses should make it clear it is willing to sell bloodstock at the Magic Millions sale.

"However some yearlings and racehorses have been retained to assist with negotiations for the broader sale of the business," it said in a statement posted on its website.

Several horses will line up for Patinack Farm head trainer John Thompson on Saturday, including Hooked in the Group One JJ Atkins at Eagle Farm.
