Stakes winners nominated for Wyong feature

Thursday 6 December 2018, 2:50pm

Three stakes-winning juveniles headline the nominations for the $200,000 Wyong Magic Millions 2YO Classic.

Next Wednesday's 1000m race at the NSW Central Coast track is one of the key lead-ups to next month's $2 million Magic Millions 2YO Classic at the Gold Coast and the 14 nominations include Breeders' Plate winner Dubious, Maribyrnong Trial Stakes winner Unite And Conquer and Debutant Stakes winner Champagne Boom.

Half the juveniles nominated for the Wyong race are unraced.

Gary Portelli has entered Spaceboy who finished a distant second to early Golden Slipper favourite Tassort at Rosehill on debut last month while Godolphin's James Cummings has well-bred filly Exhilarates, by Snitzel out of Samaready, in the nominations.

Capitalist (2015), Unencumbered (2013) and Karuta Queen (2010) have won the Wyong and Gold Coast Magic Millions double in the past decade.

Dubious and Unite And Conquer were the equal $8 favourite on Thursday for the $2 million Magic Millions 2YO Classic at the Gold Coast on January 12 while Champagne Boom, who raced twice during the Melbourne spring carnival, is among a host of youngsters on the second line of betting at $15.

Recent Starlight Stakes winner Invincible Star headlines the 21 nominations for the $100,000 Wyong Magic Millions 3&4YO Stakes (1100m).
