PRIME THOROUGHBREDS UPDATE 04/07/18

Wednesday 4 July 2018, 1:33pm

We will continue to have plenty of runners as we head into July.  June was a great month for our brand with five metropolitan winners. This is an exceptional result given we only have about 25 horses in work at any time.

Tomorrow see our Smart Missile filly out of Devoirs named Eiffel Star make her debut at Cranbourne for Darren Weir.  She was a $100,000 purchase from the 2017 Magic Millions Gold Coast Sale and has been taken along steadily by Darren.  Good luck to her and her owners.  It is always a big day when horses make their debuts.

Reneged – leading our team to Grafton!!!

We may have as many as four metropolitan runners on Saturday.  It is Winter Finals Day at Flemington and at this stage we look like having Husson Eagle in the Winter Sprint Final, Hussy’s Glow in the final of the Leilani Series and Casa De Lago in the final of the Rivette Series.  These three horses are trained by Patrick Payne.  Annaman is also set to race at Morphettville for Darren Weir.  The fickle Melbourne weather will have a big bearing on our results.  Casa De Lago probably won’t start unless the track is rain affected.

It is hard to believe the time-honoured Grafton Winter Carnival is only a week away. We are looking at having a good representation with Reneged for John Thomson in the Grafton Cup, Chalmers in the Grafton Guineas and Everard in the two years old Classic for Kris Lees.  These are three good races with us tasting success in the past with Desk Top Lover in the Cup and Reneged in the Guineas.

Kissing Game is down to race at Warwick Farm on Wednesday and she looks to have come back in great style on the strength of her good first up run at Wyong.

The New Season is only four weeks off, and we have some of our very good young horses in work preparing for the big races. Our star two years old’s Zizzis and Golden Script are in work with Patrick Payne and Darren Weir and Our Long Sali will head into work in about a month.

The Goldmarket winner Raido is coming along nicely and will be ready to race in about three weeks.

My eye is always on the Magic Millions day in January on the Gold Coast where we have had so much success.  I have purchased and managed the winners of eight Magic Millions feature races since 2010 and hope to be well represented again in 2019.

I hope you enjoy your racing and I look forward to a successful end to the 2018/19 Season where we have continued to punch above our weight.

Hussy’s Glow looks to have bright prospects on Saturday in the Leilani Series Final!!!
