Randwick to get synthetic training track

Wednesday 4 July 2018, 10:57am

Planning is underway for a new all-weather synthetic training track at Randwick.

The Australian Turf Club and Racing NSW have begun the process which means all four Sydney courses, Randwick, Canterbury, Rosehill and Warwick Farm will have synthetic tracks.

The ATC and Racing NSW are also preparing plans for a full renovation of the main sand training track at Randwick.

Both projects will continue in close consultation with Randwick trainers and the NSW Trainers' Association.

ATC acting chief executive James Heddo said the new Randwick track would give trainers the same variety of training surfaces as other centres.

"An all-weather synthetic surface will bring Royal Randwick in line with all other ATC training centres as we continue to build, maintain and improve training and racing infrastructure at all of our racecourses,'' Heddo said.
