Black Caviar celebrated on coins, stamp

Friday 10 May 2013, 6:41pm

Recently retired champion racehorse Black Caviar has been celebrated on a commemorative 60 cent stamp and a special edition $1 coin.

The winner of all her 25 starts, Black Caviar's win in her finale, the TJ Smith Stakes, set an Australian record of 15 Group One victories.

Australia Post is showcasing all the mare's trophies at the 2013 World Stamp Expo in Melbourne in partnership with the Australian Racing Museum.

The Royal Australian Mint will also launch collectible coins at the Expo this weekend, one made of silver and a second of aluminium bronze.

With the tag line perfection, each coin design features the horse in mid-stride racing to the finish line.

The $1 collectible silver proof coin retails for $120 while the frosted-coloured coin retails for $16.95 and highlights the well-known salmon and black spots of Black Caviar's silks.
