Larry Cassidy believes Danleigh fits the profile for a Hollindale Stakes winner.

Danleigh will race beyond 1600 metres for the first time in the Hollindale but Cassidy has backed trainer Chris Waller's decision to target the Gold Coast weight-for-age event.

"He's proven himself time and time again in weight-for-age races and his last couple of runs have been really good in much harder races than this," Cassidy said.

"The Waller stable is flying and I think this horse is a genuine winning chance."

The Hollindale helped to launch Cassidy's riding career in Australia when he rode Corndale to victory for Kerry Jordan in 1993 before another win in the race three years later aboard the Clarry Conners-trained Super Slew.

Danleigh has drawn barrier 12 in the 13-horse field on Saturday which Cassidy admits makes his task more difficult.

"I know he likes to find his feet but it's just a shame he didn't draw a better alley," he said.

"It means I'll probably have to got back a bit further than I would have if I'd been able to draw two or three."

Despite the awkward alley, Cassidy believes Danleigh has a class edge on most of his Hollindale rivals.

"He's beaten better horses than what he's facing on Saturday and apart from Chris's other runner (Foreteller) and Peter Moody's mare (Lights Of Heaven) it's not a strong field," he said.

Trainer David Vandyke said Lamasery worked impressively on the course proper at Warwick Farm on Wednesday and has handled the float trip from Sydney to the Gold Coast with ease.

"He was keen, finished the gallop off well and travelled up here in good fashion," Vandyke said.

"The 1800 metres is the perfect distance for him. He's had four starts for four wins at the trip and he's proven at weight-for-age winning over 2000 metres at Randwick beating Mourayan."

Lamasery will race in a tongue tie for the first time in the Hollindale.

"I wasn't really happy with his work a couple of weeks ago but putting the tongue tie seems to have made a difference so I've kept it on," he said.
