Weighty task for She's A Stalker at Farm

Tuesday 30 April 2013, 2:51pm

There should be easier ways for She's A Stalker to resume a stop-start season than against older horses at Warwick Farm but trainer Angela Davies insists there are few alternatives.

A promising three-year-old filly, She's A Stalker will have to carry her share of weight against some seasoned sprinters when she resumes in the Warwick Farm Handicap (1100m) on Wednesday.

"It won't be easy for her but there was nothing much else around that she is eligible for and I want to have her right for a race at Scone," Davies said.

As the winner of two age group races, She's a Stalker has 57.5kg against well-performed horses like five-time winner Gasquet who will carry 59kg after a claim for in-form apprentice Sam Clipperton.

Gasquet has opened favourite at $3 but She's A Stalker, a Hugh Bowman mount, is also well in commission as a $4 equal second pick.

She's A Stalker was one of the main contenders for the $1 million Magic Millions Guineas in January but her chances were dealt a blow when she was overcome with heat stress during her Gold Coast stay.

"She really struggled with the humidity up there and I had to put her out in a paddock when she got home," Davies said.

Davies said he was thrilled with the way the filly spelled but plans for a first-up shot at the $250,000 Gosford Guineas came undone at the last moment.

"She had a setback with a cold which cost me a couple of weeks with her," Davies said.

"The Guineas would have been a nice race for her but that's gone now so we are looking at a Listed race during the Scone carnival."

Davies said she was considering scratching Shebrings Diamonds from her Warwick Farm assignment because of what she thinks is a difficult draw.

Tim Clark, back in Sydney after riding in Hong Kong, has been booked to ride Shebrings Diamonds.
