Blake Shinn to miss Apollo Stakes meeting

Wednesday 7 February 2018, 5:09pm

Blake Shinn has joined Hugh Bowman in missing Apollo Stakes day at Randwick after being suspended for careless riding.

Shinn pleaded not guilty before Racing NSW stewards at Randwick on Wednesday, after being charged in relation to his ride on Ruthless Agent at Canterbury last Friday night.

He was found guilty and suspended for seven meetings after allowing Ruthless Agent to shift out on Reach For Heaven, ridden by Kerrin McEvoy.

Shinn, who gave evidence in Bowman's failed bid to have a careless riding ban reduced on appeal on on Monday, had a 10 per cent reduction applied to his penalty because the ban included the Group Two Apollo Stakes (1400m) on Saturday week.

Shinn has the option to appeal.
