Miracles Of Life sibling wins on debut

Thursday 4 January 2018, 2:48pm

The half-sister to Blue Diamond winner Miracles Of Life has made a winning debut at Geelong.

A $1.2 million yearling, Angel was sent out the $2.50 favourite under Mark Zahra before scoring a 1-3/4 length win in a Two-Year-Old Fillies Maiden (1118m) on Thursday.

Angel is trained by Lindsay Park and the stable hopes she can follow in Miracle Of Life's hoofprints.

A flashy chestnut with a white blaze, Miracles Of Life was trained in South Australia by Daniel Clarken and ridden by Lauren Stojakovic when she won the Blue Diamond in 2013.

Angel is listed among nominations for this year's Blue Diamond on February 24 for trainers David and Ben Hayes and Tom Dabernig.

Lindsay Park representative Bruno Rouge-Serret said the stable had seen Angel's potential in track work, but wanted to see it on race day.

"It was a good pleasing effort to see her do it," Rouge-Serret told broadcaster racing.com.

"As much as you think they can do it, it's good to see them actually do it.

"On that she's Blue Diamond-bound and she's got a bit of money in the account now.

"Dave will plot a course through to there and I'd say it will be through one of the Previews or the Preludes."

Zahra said he had to place Angel out of her comfort zone after being caught wide early.

"I was going to be wide so I was off the bit early," Zahra said.

"To be out of her comfort zone and kick as good as she did at the top of the straight was good."
