Robl after more Brisbane black-type wins

Friday 29 December 2017, 1:58pm

Randwick trainer Peter Robl is set to continue his good run of black-type wins in Queensland with Curdled at Doomben.

Robl, who has been training for just over two years, has won stakes races in Queensland with Eloping (Silk Stocking), Ninth Legion (Eye Liner Stakes) and Curdled (Winning Edge Stakes).

He will be back with Curdled who runs in Saturday's Group Three Vo Rogue Plate (1350m).

Robl said he had mapped out a four-run campaign for Curdled which would take the gelding to the Magic Millions Guineas on January 13.

Curdled has had two starts in Sydney this campaign for placings at Rosehill.

"It was only a small field last time and he had no luck. He has won a trial at Hawkesbury since," Robl said.

"The horse is going well and I think the Vo Rogue is the perfect lead-up for the Magic Millions Guineas a fortnight later.

"He has $115,000 in prize money which should put him in the Guineas field. One thing if there is s bit of rain on Saturday about it won't worry Curdled."

Curdled has been on wet tracks for six of his eight starts and Doomben is likely to be rain-affected with storms forecast.

Stablemae Granny Red Shoes, who like Curdled is raced by Segenhoe Stud, could chase a Magic Millions Classic place in the Two-Year-Old Plate at Randwick on Saturday.

Granny Red Shoes was an unlucky second to Outback Barbie in the Listed Calaway Gal stakes at Doomben at her last start which has left her in 22nd place to qualify for the Magic Million Classic.

"I thought she could win the Calaway Gal but she got some bumps in the straight. I want to have a good look at the Magic Millions order of entry before deciding whether to run on Saturday," Robl said.
