MELBOURNE CUP-WINNING JOCKEY COREY BROWN

* Grew up in Wingham near Taree on the NSW mid-north coast and is 41

* Grandfather Trevor and father Jack were jockeys

* Has previously won the Melbourne Cup on Shocking in 2009. He's now ridden in the race 14 times, also claiming two seconds and two thirds

* Rode his first Group One winner on Camino Rose in the 1999 Coolmore Classic and now has 48 Group One wins to his name

* Returned to Australia early this year after more than three-and-a-half years riding in Singapore, where he established himself as one of the country's leading riders, so his daughters could finish school in Sydney

* Since his return to Australia he has had Group One wins on Impending (Stradbroke Handicap), Polarisation (Sydney Cup), Sense Of Occasion (Doomben Cup) and Terravista (Lightning Stakes)
