Anderson wants change of luck for Mystic

Friday 8 September 2017, 9:49am

Trainer Chris Anderson hopes fortune will be on his side when Mystic Opal backs up a week after her last-start second at Doomben.

Mystic Opal was rated unlucky when she was beaten a long neck by the in-form Havasay last Saturday.

Anderson had no qualms about backing Mystic Opal up in Saturday's Open Handicap (1350m) at Doomben.

"I have no doubt she should have won last time. She was held up for a long way and when he did get out she really flew at them," Anderson said.

"If there is a worry it is drawing barrier one again.

"I just hope it doesn't turn out we get stuck on the fence again. But hopefully it will all come out in the wash and it will be our turn to have some luck."

Anderson is looking at a Sydney trip with Mystic Opal if she races well on Saturday.

"We won't be aiming too highly down there but some of the benchmark races and the like will suit her," he said.
