Plans to run Snitz in Sydney have been shelved for the time being with trainer Matt Dunn electing to keep the three-year-old in his own age group.

Snitz is one of a bumper crop of early season three-year-olds racing in Brisbane and has never finished worse than fourth in his five starts.

He will take on a slick field in the Three-Year-Old Handicap (1350m) at Doomben on Saturday.

Dunn has no doubt had Snitz been better treated at the barrier draws his record would be far better than one win, two seconds, a third and a fourth.

The Murwillumbah trainer said he had been strongly considering taking Snitz to Sydney for a Highway series race.

"I actually entered him for one two weeks ago but in the end I didn't accept. I really think it is best to keep young horses to their own age group before Christmas," Dunn said.

"Considering the barriers he has had he has done a good job. Last start we ran into David Vandyke's smart horse (Let's Party Marty) who was able to bowl along in front while we were trapped deep. We still finished second."

Dunn said with a better barrier (4) and the step up to 1350m on Saturday he would be disappointed if Snitz didn't run well.

The stable will run dual nomination Hanwritten in a Class 6 Plate (1100m) after deciding against the Open Handicap (1200m) with him.

"Good Job Bro will represent us in the Open. He worked with Hanwritten on Tuesday and bashed him up so we elected to keep them apart on Saturday," Dunn said.

Hanwritten started a short priced favourite in an open handicap first-up at Doomben three weeks ago but was well beaten into fifth place.

"I don't think the way the race panned out suited him. Jeff Lloyd will ride him on Saturday and hopefully he can get him rolling up near the lead," Dunn said.
