Another boost for Hawkesbury race

Friday 25 August 2017, 8:18am

The Ladies Day Cup is the latest race at Hawkesbury to receive a cash injection with this year's event to be worth $150,000.

The Listed Rowley Mile won by Arbeitsam on Thursday was run for $150,000 and now the traditional Ladies Day Cup on November 9, VRC Oaks day, will also rise.

"We are pleased to announce a further increase of prize money to $150,000 to one of our feature races of the spring carnival and are grateful to Racing NSW for their approval in recognising the day as important to the NSW industry," Hawkesbury chief executive Greg Rudolph said.

"We have had a successful last season, including one of our best ever Stand Alone race days in April and hope to capitalise by complementing VRC Oaks Day in the spring with another strong renewal of the race."

Last year's Ladies Cup was won by Group One winner Famous Seamus, locally trained by Noel Mayfield-Smith, who also had the runner-up, Unequivocal.
