Valley gallop for Hey Doc ahead of Memsie

Tuesday 22 August 2017, 5:29pm

Hey Doc will further his quest to add another Group One win to his record with an exhibition gallop at Moonee Valley.

The winner of the Australian Guineas at Flemington in the autumn, Hey Doc is set to compete in the Memsie Stakes at Caulfield on September 2.

As part of his preparation for the $1 million Group One 1400m-event, Hey Doc will gallop between races on Saturday.

Trainer Tony McEvoy said the four-year-old had progressed well since his first-up success in the Aurie's Star Handicap at Flemington on August 12.

"He galloped well at Flemington this morning (Tuesday) and he's coming to Moonee Valley on Saturday to have an exhibition gallop between races," McEvoy said.

"That's just to stimulate him, get some extra fitness benefit out of it and then he'll be right on target for the Memsie."

Hey Doc is yet to win at Caulfield, but did finish third to Divine Prophet and Seaburge in the Caulfield Guineas last year while at his only start at 1400m he was successful in the C S Hayes Stakes at Flemington before his Guineas triumph.
