Big bet taken on Winx to win Warwick Stks

Wednesday 16 August 2017, 11:44am

A few hours after betting opened, Winx has shortened to $1.06 to win her 18th consecutive race in the Warwick Stakes.

After posting the champion at $1.08 on Wednesday morning, the TAB wound her in after taking a bet of $61,600 at that price.

The shortest price Winx has started in a race was $1.09 in the George Main Stakes last spring.

She will have seven rivals in Saturday's 1400m-Group Two race, her first start on the path to a record-equalling third Cox Plate.

Kingston Town won the Cox Plate in 1980, 81 and 82 and Winx is at $1.50 to repeat the feat..
