SHERGAR CUP Q+A: I am good at hair and can talk a lot of rubbish!

Friday 11 August 2017, 2:34pm

We put five questions to four of the riders competing in the Dubai Duty Free Shergar Cup...

(Hayley Turner - can do hair... can gas-bag)

Hayley Turner

Favourite racecourse
Ascot, I also like York, Newbury and the July course

Biggest moment in racing
When I won on Rawdon at Haydock, my first winner without my claim, otherwise it was Dream Ahead winning the July Cup

Pet hate
Bad manners, people who don't say please and thank you or getting asked repetitive questions

Biggest ambition
I have achieved way more than I ever expected so anything else is a bonus

If I wasn't a jockey I'd be . . .
My sisters says I would be a good hairdresser because she says I'm good at hair and can talk a lot of rubbish

(Emma-Jayne Wilson - hates people driving too slow in the overtaking lane... don't we all!)

Emma-Jayne Wilson

Favourite racecourse
Woodbine is my home, but Ascot is up there as well

Biggest moment in racing
Winning the Queen's Plate was the biggest highlight of my career. It was a goal on my list as an apprentice and it is Canada's horse race. I am very proud to have that feather in my cap

Pet hate
People driving slow in the fast lane

Biggest ambition
To be a good mother. That's a new one

If I wasn't a jockey I'd be
Wildlife rehabilitator or veterinarian

(Keita Tosaki - would love to win the Arc!)

Keita Tosaki

Favourite racecourse
Tokyo

Biggest moment in racing
Winning the Kashiwa Kinen on Furioso

Pet hate
Losing any race

Biggest ambition
To win the Japanese Derby and the Arc de Triomphe

If I wasn't a jockey I'd be . . .
A schoolteacher

(Anthony Delpech - don't ask him for a tip)

Anthony Delpech

Favourite racecourse
In South Africa, Greyville; in Hong Kong, Sha Tin; and Dubai, Nad Al Sheba, I used to love that track

Biggest moment in racing
Winning the Sheema Classic on World Cup night and winning six Group 1 races in Hong Kong on Vengeance Of Rain and the Durban July, our biggest race, four times

Pet hate
Always being asked for tips at the races

Biggest ambition
Coming from a little island like the Seychelles I have achieved so much more than I expected. Whatever comes along now I'll be grateful

If I wasn't a jockey I'd be . . .
A pilot. My dad was in charge of the airport on the Seychelles and I would always fly with him on the small aircraft
