Another chapter has been written into the remarkable Black Caviar story with the champion's first foal, Oscietra, breaking her maiden at her second start.

At a windy Geelong on Friday, three-year-old Oscietra began quickly to take up the lead in a 1000m-maiden on the synthetic track and kicked clear over the final 200m to win by 1-3/4 lengths.

Oscietra, who is trained by David and Ben Hayes and Tom Dabernig, was beaten into third on debut at Flemington on New Year's Day.

"It's very special," part-owner Neil Werrett said.

"I think it was a great relief for the whole team here today. It's been a while since she raced on New Year's Day. She's very fit and David spent a lot of time getting her ready.

"So we're very relieved."

Werrett is part of a group of owners who raced Black Caviar and continue to race her progeny.

Oscietra, who is by Exceed And Excel, is the first of her foals to hit the racetrack.

Black Caviar was unbeaten in 25 starts including 15 at Group One level.

Hayes was also relieved to see Oscietra win for the first time and said her next start would be in town on turf.

He gave the filly plenty of groundwork, including bringing her to Geelong for a jump-out on the synthetic track, to have her ready for Friday.

"Being Black Caviar's daughter, I didn't want to run her hoping," Hayes said.

"I think if it wasn't so windy, she did all the work into the wind, she might have won a little bit easier."

He said the intention had been for Oscietra to settle third or fourth but the filly showed plenty of speed to lead comfortably under Regan Bayliss.

"I'm pretty confident she'll go through into city class and as I said before she ran, she's a black-type filly in waiting, I think," Hayes said.

"I've seen her work with too many stakes winners in the stable and beat them."

Black Caviar also has a two-year-old unraced colt by Sebring named Prince Of Caviar and a yearling filly by Snitzel.

She is due to give birth to her next foal, by More Than Ready, in late September.

"And we're looking forward to it," Werrett said.

"Her colt will be going into the Hawkes stable in about three or four weeks. So there's plenty to look forward to."
