Sanadaat impressive in Sandown return

Sunday 6 August 2017, 1:34pm

Sanadaat has thrown her hat into the ring for richer spring races with an impressive first-up win at Sandown.

The Lindsay Park-trained filly sat outside the leader in the Jim Conway Handicap (1200m) on Sunday before drawing away to a 2-3/4 length victory.

Senior trainer David Hayes said the three-year-old would be aimed towards the Group One Thousand Guineas at Caulfield in October.

Lindsay Park has a strong team of three-year-old fillies and Sanadaat will join Catchy and Ploverset on a path towards the Guineas while the Coolmore-owned Tulip and Formality will head to Sydney.

Hayes said one of the Coolmore-owned fillies, providing her form warranted it, would be aimed towards the Golden Rose with the other on a Flight Stakes path.

Both Tulip and Formality Catchy are to trial at Cranbourne on Tuesday as is Catchy.

Hayes said Tulip and Formality would then work on their "Sydney leg" right-handed at Euroa in the lead-up to their first outing and then remain at Randwick for the Sydney carnival.

"There's a race each alternate week for them," Hayes said.

"After their first runs up there they can stay there for the Golden Rose and the Flight Stakes and then head south."

Hayes was impressed with Sanadaat's victory under Jake Duffy.

"She's a little bit of class, I think," Hayes said.

"It looked like he had two horses underneath him straightening and the way she let down over 1200 metres first-up, it was a good effort.

"She'll measure up to the top echelon as she's been plagued by shin soreness which she's grown out of now."
