Another Highway Handicap win for Matt Dunn

Saturday 5 August 2017, 3:07pm

The Matt Dunn Highway show has rolled on at Randwick but this time with a horse destined for much bigger things.

Care To Think gave the Murwillumbah trainer his 11th win in the races for country horses, two more than Canberra's Matt Dale who scratched Super Star Bob from Saturday's 1400m-event.

A son of So You Think, a multiple Group One winner in two hemispheres, Care To Think ($2 favourite) again demonstrated he still has a bit to learn but also showed his talent with a barnstorming 1-1/2 length win over Makfi Lass ($5.50).

Keira Dunn was on hand at Randwick while her husband travelled to Doomben where Arrestar won the first race on the couple's fifth wedding anniversary.

"Since they announced the $200,000 Anniversary Highway race I think Matt has that in mind," Dunn said.

"So he (Care To Think) might have a let-up and be set for that race.

"He still has a lot to learn and hasn't had a lot of luck in some of his races.

"I galloped him one day early on and told Matt how good he was. He has a lot of options."

The $200,000 Anniversary Highway Handicap (1400m) is a support race on the October 14 program at Randwick featuring the $10 million Everest.

Dunn thought enough of Care To Think to enter him for the Queensland Derby but he wasn't ready for the distance.

He then went to Grafton in May and over-raced when a close second to Sneaky Glance in the Guineas Prelude.

The Toby Edmonds-trained Sneaky Glance went on to win the Grafton Guineas at last month's carnival.
