Silent Sedition spring path undecided

Sunday 30 July 2017, 2:55pm

A cut to a foot has delayed Silent Sedition's preparation but trainer Andrew Noblet is still hopeful the mare's spring program can include the Group One Myer Classic.

Silent Sedition gave Noblet his first Group One win in the William Reid Stakes at Moonee Valley during the autumn.

The mare also won the Mannerism Stakes last preparation and was second and fourth respectively in two Group One races in Sydney.

The Myer Classic (1600m) for fillies and mares is a logical spring target but the need to have longer in the paddock than planned has jeopardised the time-frame the trainer has to give her the suitable groundwork and lead-up races.

"She had a bit longer out in the paddock than first anticipated because she cut her foot which set her back a bit," Noblet said.

"We just needed to give it time. It's all good now. She's back now and looks super and hopefully we can get her to the Myer on Derby Day.

"We'll know more in the next month."

Noblet had to shelve Myer Classic plans with Silent Sedition last year after she suffered a muscle injury in her back while spelling.

Instead Silent Sedition won the Group Three Summoned Stakes (1500m) at Sandown a couple of weeks after the Myer Classic, her third run of that campaign.

Noblet hasn't decided where the mare is likely to resume this spring.

"She's been back in for a couple of weeks," he said.

"She's just starting to move along in her work."

He said Silent Sedition would only have a light spring anyway with a view to another big autumn.

Noblet has also not decided where Super Cash, who has been back in work a few weeks, will make her spring return.

Super Cash won the Group Two Rubiton Stakes (1100m) first-up last campaign.

'We'll just get her right," Noblet said.

"She's lightly raced and that's because she's a pretty high maintenance mare.

"Last campaign she was spot-on for that race at Caulfield and won, so we'll wait until she's right."
