A rails-hugging ride from Ryan Maloney has helped stakes-winning mare Every Faith to a narrow victory at Caulfield as her racing career draws to a close.

Every Faith ($6.50) settled back in the field in the Janet Brady Handicap (1200m) on Saturday before Maloney drove her through in the straight to win by a half-head over Divine Chills ($4).

Sullivan Bay ($3.60) was short-head further back in third.

Trainer Robert Smerdon said Every Faith, who recorded her first win in 15 months at the final city meeting of the season, was booked for the breeding barn to be served by Medaglia D'Oro in the coming breeding season.

"She's a really nice mare and it was probably her second-last run today," Smerdon said.

"She'll probably have one more. It was going to be at Flemington in two weeks and might still well be. But the float has been booked and she's off to stud after that.

"She has won a black-type race and is a half-sister to Alpine Eagle, so she's got a pedigree."

Alpine Eagle won at Group Two level and was a Group One placegetter.

He starts his stallion career in Tasmania this year.

A rising seven-year-old, Every Faith won the Listed Laelia Stakes in Adelaide in 2014 and Saturday's win was her sixth victory from 39 starts.
