Shinn to appeal careless riding penalty

Tuesday 25 July 2017, 5:51pm

Blake Shinn is to appeal a careless riding penalty which will keep him out of the first stakes meeting of the new season.

Shinn was outed for his ride on Invincible Knight at Randwick on Saturday and pending the outcome of his appeal on Friday, he will not return until August 6, the day after the Group Two Missile Stakes meeting at Randwick.

The jockey returned last week from a successful five-week stint in America where he rode 11 winners at Chicago's Arlington Park.

Since his return, Shinn has not ridden a winner but has racked up a string of minor placings including three from his three rides at Wyong on Tuesday.
