Colt quinella for Snowden duo at Randwick

Saturday 22 July 2017, 12:27pm

Rising colts Assimilate and Dracarys have emphasised their promise by providing Paul and Peter Snowden with an early quinella at Randwick.

Assimilate ($5.50) caught his stablemate on the line in the card-opening 2YO Handicap (1200m) on Saturday, to remain unbeaten after two starts thanks to an impressive finishing burst under Tye Angland.

He scored by a head to follow up his debut win at Kembla Grange on July 8 with a stylish performance on a soft five.

"His work before he won at Kembla was very satisfying and was indicating he was heading the right way as far as his mental mindset was going, and he's won accordingly," Paul Snowden said.

"He's backed up with a nice solid win."

Snowden was also enthusiastic about Dracarys ($3.90) going forward after he finished a length clear of Chris Waller-trained Gresham ($5.50).

"They're improving and once we can get them up a little bit further they'll certainly come into their own," he said.

Angland was excited at the prospect of Assimilate stepping up in trip.

"I'd like to see him up over 1400. The way he let go late was impressive.

"I think if you could travel into it, he'll show an even better turn of foot."
