Renovation works cause meeting transfer

Thursday 20 July 2017, 7:15am

Ongoing renovation works to the synthetic track at Pakenham has resulted in the transfer of a meeting to another country venue.

The meeting on July 25 will now be run at Bairnsdale.

Following the Pakenham meeting on July 14, the club initiated a maintenance and renovation program to address the issue of increased surface kickback.

Pakenham chief executive Michael Hodge said while the renovation works are progressing well the decision to transfer the meeting was practical.

"Whilst the renovations are progressing to schedule and we expect them to be finished by Tuesday, we believe it is the best option to transfer the meeting in order to allow the synthetic track time to consolidate," Hodge said.

The transfer will enable Pakenham to schedule jump-outs on the synthetic track on July 28, two days ahead of the club's next meeting.
