Webb admires Acceptile's consistency

Noted trainer of two-year-olds Mark Webb can't remember when he last had a a more consistent youngster than Acceptile.

The colt will be having his ninth start for the season in the Bruce McLachlan Memorial Two-Year-Old (1200m) at the Sunshine Coast on Saturday.

The race is named after the great Queensland trainer Bruce McLachlan who died in 2009 shortly after winning the Group One Golden Slipper with Phelan Ready.

For the last decade of his career McLachlan was based at the Sunshine Coast and local trainers love to win the race named in his honour.

Webb was a multiple premiership winner in Toowoomba before moving to the Sunshine Coast about five years ago.

He once had one of the biggest juvenile teams in the state and had top youngsters such as Black Minx, Emit Time, Tripitz, Foolish and Wicked Temptation.

These days Webb mainly trains for Optima Racing which owns Acceptile, a colt by the former top sprinter Smart Missile.

"I know he has won only one of his eight starts but he has been minor placed in the other seven," Webb said.

"You don't have many two-year-olds running eight or nine times let along picking up prize money on each occasion.

"And he has run into some very good horses such as (Magic Millions Classic winner) Houtzen."

Acceptile is the early $3.80 favourite despite drawing barrier 12 of 13.
