Cassidy at Randwick for cancer charity

Thursday 22 June 2017, 1:44pm

Hall of Fame jockey Jimmy Cassidy will speak at Randwick's inaugural city meets country raceday to help raise money for country NSW cancer sufferers.

Cassidy is hosting a function on Saturday to promote Can Assist which provides accommodation and support so people in the state's rural areas can access cancer treatment.

Vice president Michael Jackson said the day was about bridging a gap between country and city patients.

"Saturday is an opportunity for corporate city people to meet up with corporate country folk of all different backgrounds," he said.

Cassidy, one of three jockeys to ride more than 100 Group One winners in Australia, will be joined by former Olympic canoeist Martin Ralph.
