The performance of first season sires has been a highlight at the select weanling sales this year and the Inglis Great Southern Weanling Sale that concluded on Monday again produced strong results for these young stallions with Brazen Beau and Dissident the standouts.

Darley's dual Group I winning I Am Invincible sprinter Brazen Beau had three weanlings offered and two were sold including a colt from Pintle that made $245,000 for Three Bridges Thoroughbreds.

The handsome bay was bought by New Zealand based pinhookers Lyndhurst Farm and was the single highest sale for any of the first season sires.

Brazen Beau also had a big result with his filly from Tahnee Tango that made $175,000 for Milburn Creek when knocked down to David Lucas for Phoenix Thoroughbreds.

Brazen Beau was been very popular for Darley in Victoria covering 261 mares in his first two seasons and his strong results with his weanlings will ensure his popularity again this spring with his fee remaining at $44,000.

Newgate Farm's Australian Horse of the Year Dissident had seven weanlings offered and all were sold at average $100,714 putting him second on the overall leading sires by average at this sale with three or more sold behind only Written Tycoon.

The top seller for Dissident was a colt (pictured above) from stakes-placed Sun Valley that made $170,000 for Maluka Thoroughbreds when bought by David Lucas for Phoenix Thoroughbreds.

Not far behind was a colt from Maree Basse (IRE) that made $160,000 for Burnewang North when snapped up by renowned pinhookers Musk Creek Farm and a colt from In Masquerade that made $155,000 for Glastonbury Farm when bought by David Lucas for Phoenix Thoroughbreds.

A five time Group I winning son of Sebring, Dissident has covered 410 mares in his first two seasons at Newgate and stands this spring at a fee of $33,000.

Dissident's Newgate Farm barn mates Deep Field and Wandjina were also in demand at this sale.

Dee Field had four weanlings offered and all were sold with his best result a colt from Anamour that made $60,000, while Wandjina had eight offered and all were sold with his best result a colt from Carry On Beauty that made $67,500.

The Coolmore based duo of Rubick and Adelaide (IRE) also made their mark.

A brilliant sprinter by Encosta de Lago, Rubick had a colt from Single in London sell for $85,000, while Cox Plate hero Adelaide (IRE) had a colt from Chevovessence sell for $72,500.

Swettenham Stud's Puissance de Lune (IRE) made a name for himself with a colt from Group II placed Anatomica making $80,000 for Gilgai Farm when secured by Belmont Bloodstock.
