Aquis gets Gold Coast naming rights

Thursday 1 June 2017, 1:48pm

The possibility of night racing will be one of the major planks in a new sponsorship deal in which the Aquis Australia group has naming rights at the Gold Coast Turf Club and event centre.

Aquis already has a large presence in Australian racing with a major stud and horse preparation complex at Canungra in the Gold Coast hinterland.

The organisation also has recently announced it would mange the Emirates Park complex in the Hunter Valley.

On Thursday, Aquis Australia announced a three-year deal with the Gold Coast Turf Club renamed Aquis Park from the start of the new racing season on August 1.

A special Aquis Park race day will be held on August 5 as the official public launch.

GCTC chief executive Steve Lines said Aquis Park would be a first for the racing industry in Queensland.

"We are excited to enter this long-term partnership with Aquis, fast becoming an iconic brand in Australia," Lines said.

As part of the partnership, the club will undergo a series of renovations and Aquis Park will feature signage on top of the main grandstand, at the track entrance, on the winner's post and stalls as well as throughout the venue.

Lines said a number of strategic marketing initiatives would also be rolled out to capture the full potential of the partnership.

"One is in line with a racing infrastructure submission to Racing Queensland as Aquis is excited about the potential of night racing (at the GCTC),"Lines said.

Aquis Australia Chairman Tony Fung said the partnership would be an important plank in growing the Aquis brand in Australia.

"It is a further demonstration of the company's commitment to the Queensland racing and breeding industries and the broader Queensland community," Fung said.

"This deal is not only a naming rights program, but it is designed to be a true partnership between two companies dedicated to providing world class racing."

Aquis is also the naming rights sponsor of the Gold Coast Titans NRL team.
