Aidan O'Brien-trained Winter wins Guineas

Monday 29 May 2017, 4:12pm

Winter has given champion trainer Aidan O'Brien a clean sweep of the English and Irish Guineas with her win at the Curragh.

On Saturday the O'Brien-trained Churchill backed up his 2000 Guineas win at Newmarket with victory in the Irish equivalent and Winter mirrored the feat a day later when she beat stablemate Roly Poly by4-3/4 lengths.

"It was very easy. She gave me a lovely ride and it was very straightforward," jockey Ryan Moore siad.

"She was relentless and kept building all the way to the line. It rode like a piece of work."

O'Brien said he would look at options for the filly.

"If everything went well, you'd be thinking of the Coronation Stakes (at Royal Ascot) with her, because she is a good strong traveller," he said.

"The lads will talk about it and see what they want to do.

"She's a big, powerful filly and is very exciting."
