Two former Perth sprinters have been the best supported ahead of the $1 million Group One Goodwood at Morphettville.

A 10-time winner in Western Australia before heading east, the Darren Weir-trained Black Heart Bart is chasing successive victories in Adelaide's premier sprint on Saturday while Vega Magic is having his first start for Lindsay Park since leaving Perth.

Vega Magic has been supported from as much as $11 to share the second line of betting at $6.50 with Secret Agenda while Black Heart Bart remains the $3.50 favourite.

Senior Lindsay Park trainer David Hayes says Vega Magic has taken the stable by surprise.

"Originally we were going to run him up the straight at Flemington," Hayes told Melbourne radio RSN927.

"When I got him I thought we'd do that and back off him and then train him for those early spring races that Black Heart Bart went for last year.

"But he worked like such a good horse. I think he's got a Group One in him and maybe first-up.

"The times he runs and the way he does it on our tracks excites us all."

Vega Magic hasn't raced since winning in Group Three company at Ascot in December, recording his ninth win from 14 starts.

The Goodwood hasn't proven successful for Lindsay Park.

Hayes, who trains in partnership with son Ben and nephew Tom Dabernig, is yet to win the race while Hayes' father Colin was successful only once with Romantic Son in 1971.

Lindsay Park will also be represented by Faatinah in Saturday's race.

Black Heart Bart is aiming to become the first horse since Musket Belle in 1911/12 to win the race in successive years.
