O'Brien with key Flemington chances

Friday 19 May 2017, 3:29pm

The horses who gave trainer Danny O'Brien a recent two-state double are well supported in races at the same track this time around.

De Little Engine's easy win in a 2800m handicap on his home track at Flemington last Saturday week was followed up less than an hour later by an equally dominant win in Adelaide by Second Bullet in a 2010m handicap.

On Saturday, De Little Engine returns to Flemington where he is the $2.40 favourite for the Listed Andrew Ramsden Stakes (3200m) while Second Bullet is the $4.80 second elect in the Archer Hall of Fame Trophy (2000m).

Second Bullet's only unplaced run from seven attempts over the course and distance was when he finished last at Group One level as an outsider in the 2016 Turnbull Stakes.

"Second Bullet has been in great form the whole autumn and won very impressively at Morphettville the other day," O'Brien said.

"Flemington is a track that he's got a great record at, particularly around the 2000 metres, so we'd expect him to be very competitive on Saturday."

De Little Engine was third in last year's Andrew Ramsden with 59.5kg and has top weight of 58.5kg this time.

"He ran very well last year with a big weight and he possibly goes into the race in better form this year coming off a really good win two weeks ago," O'Brien said.
